How does research work?
Communication takes place in several phases of our project, both during the research process and after completion of the project, with the aim of reaching different target groups.
In the first phase of the project, we are researching Baumeister's paintings and, at the same time, offering regular insights into our research process. The most important formats are public tours of the Archiv Baumeister and the ABK Stuttgart. The aim of this phase is primarily to awaken the interest of schoolchildren and make them aware of the professional and research field of conservation and conservation science. The tours are also meant to appeal to interested laypeople of different age groups.

In order to reach a wider audience beyond the tours, we are documenting the research process with photos and videos and we have created this website with explanatory texts and images. The results will also be compiled here, step by step.
The results will then be presented to the general public in the second phase of the project – after completion of the research project in 2027 – in an exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart. Together with the exhibition, interactive workshop formats will be developed for different target groups, which will allow visitors to experience both the research process and our results firsthand. The exhibition and the accompanying program are designed to appeal to as diverse a range of target groups as possible.
Parallel to the exhibition, the results will be made available to a national and international specialist audience at a symposium at the ABK Stuttgart, in order to place the findings on Willi Baumeister's works into a national and international historical context.
